Administrative Intern

The Center for Quality Control and Administration Intern will be responsible for a variety of administrative and accounting based tasks in support of servicing our clients. Interns will be exposed to the internal functions of a public accounting firm.  All tasks lead to the professional servicing of our clients.  All interns will be required to use MS Office applications including Outlook, Word and Excel on a near daily basis.  In many cases, interns will be interacting directly with clients.

This internship is intended to provide the student with a basic understanding of the administrative infrastructure of a public accounting firm. It is our intent to expose interns to processes and compliance requirements as their capabilities and intellect will allow. This experience may be different for each intern however it is expected that each will leave with an understanding of the operational functions crucial to a professional services firm.

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities will vary from one department to the next; however the interns should be willing to perform a variety of tasks in support of their respective department. These departments include Tax, Audit, Internal Finance, Marketing, Human Resource, Administration, and Executive Administration. In all cases, the interns will receive direction from a supervising member of MFA and will participate in activities directly related to the service offering of that department. Additionally, they will gain an understanding of how they are contributing to the overall delivery of services. These general responsibilities could be, but are not limited to, any of the following:

  • Data gathering and manipulation using Excel
  • Document formatting using Word
  • Scan, file and organize client related documents
  • Prepare client engagements/disengagement letters
  • Assist in client engagement process and background checks
  • Upload documents to Kona; Provide clients with help and information about Kona upon request
  • Coordination of meetings, communications with clients and/or outside agencies, etc.
  • Assist in binding and printing
  • Answer telephone and greet guests at door
  • Sign for packages delivered to the office and deliver mail to employees
  • Place and maintain catering orders
  • Ensure conference rooms are organized for the next day

Required Skills and Experience

  • Enrolled in an educational program at an approved college or university
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher
  • Reliable transportation
  • Eagerness to learn and apply knowledge
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Exhibit a willingness and ability to interact with clients at a professional level
  • Exhibit a willingness to work independently
  • Exhibit flexibility, adaptability and dependability
  • Strong organization and problem solving skills
